Pidato Mr Roger Pada Pembukaan SITC Hong Kong

Dipercaya selama kurang lebih 30 tahun di dunia Asuransi, merupakan suatu kebanggaan bagi Asuransi Raksa sebagai salah satu dari sepuluh perusahaan asuransi terbesar di Indonesia. Keberadaannya tidak hanya diakui di dalam negeri, tetapi juga sampai ke luar negeri. Salah satu bukti nyata yaitu hubungan baik yang terus terjalin dengan pihak reasuransi, yang tentu saja tidak hanya berorientasi bisnis. Seperti Swiss Re salah satu perusahaan reasuransi terbesar di dunia, yang merupakan partner Raksa dan merupakan Leading Reasuradur dalam perjanjian Treaty - Reasuransi selama berpuluh-puluh tahun, dapat menerima dengan baik ide dan inovasi CEO Raksa Mr. Roger Yeh untuk membuka Training Center Swiss Re di Hong Kong dengan nama SITC Hong Kong, yang disampaikan kepada CEO Swiss Re

Asia Mr. Piere Ozendo dalam suatu jamuan makan malam di restoran perancis di Zurich, Swiss. Pada tanggal 18 Juni 2006 lalu, SITC Hong Kong diresmikan, dan pada kesempatan itu Mr. Roger sebagai penggagas ide tersebut diberikan kehormatan untuk berpidato. Hal ini bisa kita jadikan pelajaran, bahwa dalam sebuah hubungan kerjasama, bukan hanya segi bisnis yang dapat menghasilkan keuntungan, tetapi banyak hal lain yang tidak kalah besar manfaatnya yang dapat dihasilkan untuk membina hubungan yang lebih baik lagi, seperti inovasi yang digagaskan Mr. Roger untuk Swiss Re membuahkan penghargaan yang tidak ternilai dari perusahaan sekaliber internasional. Berikut isi pidato Mr. Roger yang bertemakan "Obssesion for Education ".

Good evening, Ladies and Gentlemen, Distinguished Guests and all my friends at Swiss Re,

First of all, thank you to Pierre, for making my dream come true. It is an honor and privilege for me to be able to speak to you tonight. We are blessed to witness tonight the 50th anniversary of Swiss Re Asia and the opening of SITC Hong Kong.

I remember vividly that I took the audacity to raise this issue to my dear friend Pierre in a midnight dinner in Zurich, in a very cozy French restaurant, possibly Pierre 's favorite. Pierre was smoking a midnight cigar. I said there was no better cause, no more noble cause to serve, than a good education facility given to the insurance industry, in order to prepare its future generations.

By this way, not only Swiss Re can promote the brand name of Swiss Re, Swiss Re can also raise the standard of all the practicing professionals in the region, and cause a positive impact to all the regional market practices. I have every conviction that, in the very long term, this investment, in time and efforts, will serve Swiss Re to the highest degree, will constantly raise the professional quality of all the direct markets in the region and will enable the market practitioners of the future generations to be better prepared to deal with the ever more complex risks of this modern world.

In a more detailed note, my debate with Pierre over that midnight dinner was about how Swiss Re could influence positively the direct markets through all these never ending soft and hard market cycles. I said, there was a short term way, and there was a long term way. The short term would be to adjust drastically the terms and conditions. The long term way, may be very long term, would be to change the mind of all the practitioners in the direct markets who, including myself, are very often inured to planning only for the next 10 weeks!!

By way of a good insurance education, Swiss Re can instill in the future generations, a good common sense to sustain the market in a more responsible way, instead of through crashes and crises of solvency.

I came to embrace this idea by doing the same in my own 2 companies in Jakarta , by never recruiting from the market, by only nurturing all our human resources right from the school doorsteps. We have done that in the last 30 years.

I wish now every success to Swiss Re Asia and SITC Hong Kong for the next 50 years.
